Yes, it's us again. John & Irene, this time with Rajah, our dog.

USAWhen we came down to Crubenbeg House from our previous hotel, our aim was to run a top quality Guest House in Newtonmore whilst giving ourselves a bit more time to enjoy our pastimes & hobbies.

We're pleased to say that, whilst we've been fortunate enough to have been very successful building up our business, we've been somewhat less successful in getting more time to ourselves, especially during our busiest periods. Not that we're complaining, you'll understand - the balance is not too far from being about right.

Irene_Hiking_-_LunchIrene's main passions (apart from John) are hill walking (she's conquered almost 150 Munros and counting) and skiing, two activities where she has a wealth of experience, primarily in and around this area. (John, for his part just trots or skis along faithfully like "Greyfriars Bobby"). She also very much enjoys cooking, something for which she's very much appreciated by our guests. Her Cookery Themed Break is always the first to sell out each year!!

John's enthusiasm is for Rugby Union, grabbing an hour or two here and there to follow the fortunes of his beloved Leicester Tigers and England. He also reads a lot - nothing too High Brow - and manages to get through a surprising number of books, all of which he's happy to blather about to anyone who'll listen. We also have a wide interest in music, though we do have different tastes!!

One of our joint passions is that we love to travel the world and Irene needs her annual skiing break, so we try to fit in two or three holidays a year, as best we can!

Rajah, our much-loved Saluki, was liberated from his former life by those nice folks at Grantown Dog Rescue and came to us in September 2000 where he quickly settled in to hotel life.

He has adapted well to his new life here, revelling in the splendid countryside around the house. Above all, though, he adores our guests, especially those who bring their dogs and volunteer to let him guide them round any of his favourite local walks.
